Give Smart.

The way you give can impact your taxable income, which in turn can affect things like Social Security and Medicare. Giving smart is a win-win for the community and for you.

Manzanita is an independent organization that relies upon the support of the community. Help us create the first food-secure county in the United States.

Here are a few examples of ways that you can give that may provide tax advantages.

Please contact us at (928) 963-0739 with any questions.

As of 2022, if you are 70.5, you can start giving pre-tax dollars (up to $100,000) to qualifying charities. When you are 72.5 and start taking Required Minimum Distributions, donating directly from your IRA can help you avoid bumps into higher income tax categories and possibly altering the cost of certain benefits.

To give from your IRA, call your plan administrator. Gifts must come directly from the IRA account, not from your checking account. Manzanita Outreach is a Qualified Public Charity and is eligible to receive QCD gifts.

Give Stock and Appreciated Assets

If you give with stock transfers or other appreciated assets, like insurance policies and real property, you may avoid capital gains taxes and lower your taxable income. Manzanita Outreach is set up to receive such gifts. Call Ben at (928) 963-0739. Be sure to fill out the stock transfer gift form or contact us to let us know about your gift so that we can process it properly for your tax needs.

Give Through Your Estate

If you would like to name Manzanita as a beneficiary of your will or trust, please include our Tax ID number 27-4446452. You can similarly name Manzanita as the beneficiary of specific accounts and policies, such as annuities or insurance. Gifts bypass estate taxes and have the option of being endowed. Contact your advisor then let us know about your plans so that we can honor you as a member of our Legacy Society.

Give Through a Donor Advised Fund

Time your tax deductions in a way that make sense for you. Take the tax deduction at the time you establish your fund, then set up single or recurring grants to Manzanita Outreach. You can even name Manzanita as the beneficiary of your fund. Talk to your financial advisor or community foundation if you are interested in a Donor Advised Fund.

Don’t Forget to Use Your State Tax Credit

Gifts to Manzanita are not only tax-deductible with the IRS, but up to $400 for individuals and $800 for couples can be used as a direct tax credit against Arizona state taxes. This is money that you would have to spend anyway and would otherwise go to Phoenix. Why not keep it local and support your community? Our Qualified Charitable Organization Code for tax credit claims is 20701.

We deeply appreciate your caring and support!
